How long do you have to wait before drinking after taking painkillers?

That depends on what the painkiller is, but most like Vicodin have a 6 hour halflife, which is how long you should wait to consume alcohol! Any Suggestions here?

I’m not a merdic, but I’ll suggest that u refrain from taking alcohol till ur condition is normal, since alcohol and medication do not mix.u could damage ur lever. The best remedy would be’ either do not take the painkiller and suffer the pain… Source:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111228072426AA0CoVP

Well somethings going on and this means take him back to a vet to have some more tests done! If hes in pain like this it sounds like a compression of the spinal cord which is jolly painful! Have you involved his breeder in whats going on because hes a very young puppy and if she knows her breed, she may be able to shed some light on this! Is his movement normal – ie is he able to walk properly?? Is there any wobbliness in his gait?? Have the vets tested him for rear end reflexes (stood him with his foot doubled under to see how rapidly he puts it back to the normal place??)Definitely do not ignore any of this because he needs treatment! It may be down to crate rest, on Metacam etc! but when you give a dog this it removes the pain so he moves around, not realising hes doing more damage! So yes, pain relief, but keep him confined while on it so, hopefully, whatever hes done can have a chance to heal! And dogs, especially young dogs, should not be on this sort of medication long-term because there are side effects! Whatever the case, this needs urgent further investigation!
