Why do pregnant women pee so much?

Ive never had to pee like this and I never would have imagined it would be so often (and so little!!) At 36 weeks my baby dropped, so now a few sips goes right to the bladder and when you pee it feels like you are going to let so much out and its disappointing every time!!! Its almost comical, enjoy the middle of your pregnancy when you get a break!!
