Adding water to dog food is a great idea! Youre right it helps a lot with keeping your dogs properly hydrated! Since dogs are designed to get most of their moisture from their foods (a natural diet is 70% water) they are not very good at knowing how much water to drink! This can lead to chronic mild dehydration in dry fed dogs! Its hard to notice since its mild dehydration, but it is really bad for their organs, especially the kidneys! And dont worry about the teeth! All food is bad for teeth, wet and dry! Its a myth that dry food cleans teeth! My teeth have never felt cleaner after chewing on something hard and crunchy! As for bloat, no I dont think adding water could cause bloat! To avoid bloat you should never allow exercise on a full stomach, even a full stomach of water! So restrict water when exercising or playing! Also if a dog is a fast eater they end up swallowing a lot of air! This can also contribute to bloat! So feed multiple small meals to a fast eater! Also avoid tricks like roll over! Its mostly large breed dogs or deep chested dogs that are at risk!Im not sure if you live in a colder climate, but sometimes dogs will eat more in the winter because they need more calories to keep warm! So maybe that is why they are eating less now!My dog is the same way she will only eat a high moisture diet! Its more natural! Some dogs will eat anything and some dogs are more instinctual and will only eat foods resembling what they were naturally designed to eat! I also have a large deep chested dog! After 4yrs no bloat yet from her wet food!

What would cause white string-like things in your stool? When you have diarrhea, you lose a lot of water so you should drink a lot of it to prevent dehydration.
