    1) High blood pressure affects many areas of the body and can be extremely harmful to the heart!Better! I would just say that HB over time causes damage to the heart and can eventually lead to congestive heart failure! I mean If HB is so damaging to the heart, then why does exercise not damage the heart????2) High blood pressure is a main reason for heart attacks! Still wrong! Traditionally in most patients you see blockage in one or both of the vena cavas(inferior/superior), but very little blockage elsewhere! Meaning, the systolic/diastolic blood pressures are fine and normal!!!Meaning, hardening of the arteries can be caused by a number of things with blood pressure only being one factor! In fact, advanced glycation end products (AGE) compounds are no doubt the primary reason for heart disease in older people!!!Also, the lady above is just dead wrong!!! A high blood pressure condition if left untreated over time will quickly damage the arterial lining! Inflammation is only a response after an injury has occurred!!! Nurses are the worst about this! They have only a little bit of the information, are unwilling to learn anymore, but think they know everything!!!===============Yes, it is true, but is a little more complex then are indicating! Meaning, a high systolic blood pressure will ultimately over time damage arterial lining! This ultimately will lead to a high diastolic pressure after the damage is done! However, you blood pressure is never completely constant! Everything from exercise to stress causes fluctuations in blood pressure! It is only a long term condition where this becomes a problem! Traditionally you see it in patients who have degrades renal function for some reason! Also, keep in mind that blockages that cause an infarction typically are very isolated! Meaning, most of the vessels look fine, but there is 90% blockage in the vena cavas!
